I just thought I would pass along to all of you a great new website dedicated to the way all live now. The Managing Your Digital Life Podcast & Blog is a great destination for information on how to deal with all the electronic stuff you accumulate during your daily life. The folks there, like Scott Bourne and Andy Ihnatko, answer questions like: What sort of hard drive should I buy? How do I create a backup plan? What’s the difference between backup and archive?
They will provide tips, tricks, news and reviews relevant to the most up-to-date storage, backup and archiving systems. The goal is to help you take care of, manage, access and safely store/backup all your precious homework assignments, videos, photos, databases, music files and more.

Just received this from the Apple MobileMe team…
We have already made many improvements to MobileMe, but we still have many more to make. To recognize our users’ patience, we are giving every MobileMe subscriber as of today a free 60 day extension. This is in addition to the one month extension most subscribers have already received. We are working very hard to make MobileMe a great service we can all be proud of. We know that MobileMe’s launch has not been our finest hour, and we truly appreciate your patience as we turn this around. Read this article for more details.

Apple has released a new beta of the iPhone’s OS, ver 2.1. This update includes, among other things, the ability for Core Location to recognize the cardinal direction of an iPhone with GPS as well as its velocity, both of which are ingredients necessary to providing turn-by-turn directions.
Additionally, Apple is implementing a version of its background push notification service in the 2.1 firmware. As announced at the WWDC in June, this feature lets third-party native programs receive data such as alerts or new messages while not actively running.
This new release of the iPhone’s OS would most likely come out this fall. In the meantime, Apple and AT&T are currently testing iPhone 2.0.1, a maintenance release of the operating system that likely fixes some of the outstanding bugs with the initial 2.0 release.

In a new support article, Apple details how the new MobileMe service (which seems to finally be coming up) filters spam messages. This can be particularly useful information if you are trying to figure out where a missing message is.
There is also a short article on MobileMe email message bouncing back after sending and MobileMe email messages not being received by a recipient.
Again, good stuff if you are trying to troubleshoot the new service.
